Should you travel to SOFIA, BULGARIA? | Cost, Safety + Attractions

Sofia was not what I expected… it was so much better! Bulgaria is definitely a destination that the average North American tourist doesn’t know much about. I was genuinely surprised with how beautiful and clean of a city Sofia was, how modern it’s amenities were while preserving its incredibly rich history and also how budget friendly the prices were. Some people are concerned about the safety of going there, not only with Covid going on, but with the protests happening all across the country against corruption in the government. In this video I hope to give you a clearer picture of what you might expect, because it’s definitely a destination worth putting on your bucket list! xx

  1. Alina,
I really Enjoyed the Tour of Sophia that You narrated… You are a Fabulous Host … and you also have a very Lovely Personality … I learned a lot about Bulgaria from You … you are such a Natural Person to Listen to and you have great Qualities as a Person as well…

  2. Looking to retire in 2 and a half years or so. Plan to travel all those European cities such as Sofia. Your videos help.

  3. Thank you for the great video Alina! I am from Sofia and i travel alot lately, but there is no other place like Sofia!

  4. My whole family is Bulgarian and I can say from experience, you need to visit Burgas it is beautiful there !! I am from dimitrovgrad (a couple hours from Sofia) and the country in general is extremely underrated ! :/ за всички българи, най гадното нещо е че хората не знаят тъжната история за българите и турците за сажеление.

  5. For the public transport take the daily card it is 4lv, around 2,80 USD, it is for all transport vehicles the whole day, no limits of use for the day

  6. i live in bulgaria it is so hot i go to Bulgaria i love it so much and i am gowing tomorrow to bulgaria

  7. Рускиня говори на английски и рекламира България :))))))

  8. You were walking very close to my apartment, I live about 1 to 2 blocks away from that road with the yellow "bricks"

Edit: About safety, for the 9 years I lived here there was one burglary attempt to get in my apartment, but was unsuccessful, other than that, nothing else has happened, my grandma that lived here for 80 years, there was only that one burglary attempt I stated earlier.

  9. This seems to be a very charming city, I hope I can visit sometime in the future when all this is over. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much!

  10. I lived in sofia for 6 months, when I watched the video, I couldn't believe it. You got the whole city in 17 minutes. i will come and watch as i miss sofia.

  11. I'm going to go to Bulgaria next month. Your video is very informative. The country seems charming. Thanks a bunch 🙂

  12. There is a 1-day pass you can get from the Metro… Its valid for both Metro and public transport, its 2 Euro, for the day!

  13. I went by myself to Sofia pre-COVID andas a single woman, I found people to be very polite, considerate, kind and helpful. Many of the older people only speak Russian instead of English but a nice smile, a 'Dober den' and politeness can go a long way. They try to help you even if there is a language barrier, usually they commandeer a younger person to help you in English! I was impressed. The food is fantastic, the housing at that time was very reasonably priced and I felt safe. I missed it so much when i left.I hope I can go back soon..

  14. omg i looked at the comments and ım suprısed how nobody said that you look very bulgarıan lıke ıf a saw you ı wouldn thınk that you are from somewhere else btw ım bulgarıan (sorry for the bad english)
